International Conference On Spectral and
High Order Methods (ICOSAHOM07)

 HISTORY

The 7th International Conference on Spectral and High Order Methods (ICOSAHOM) will continue a tradition established through the organization of the 1st ICOSAHOM by C. Canuto and A. Quarteroni in Como, Italy in 1989. Following that, ICOSAHOM has subsequently been organized on a three-year basis, with the second ICOSAHOM in Montpellier, France in 1992, organized by Y. Maday and C. Bernardi, the third conference taking place in Houston, USA in 1995, organized by R. Glowinski and R. Scott, and the 4th one in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1998, organized by D. Gottlieb and S. Abarbanel, and the 5th one in Uppsala, Sweden in 2001, organized by B. Gustafsson. The last conference, ICOSAHOM'04, took place in Brown, USA, in June 2004 and was organized by D. Gottlieb, J. S. Hesthaven, G.E. Karniadakis and C.-W. Shu.

The purpose of ICOSAHOM'07 continues to be to together researchers and practitioners with interest in the theoretical, applied and computational aspects of high-order and spectral methods for the solution of partial differential equations. Subjects include, but are not limited to,

  • spectral methods
  • high-order finite difference
  • p-type finite element methods
  • h-p finite element methods
  • discontinuous Galerkin methods
  • ENO / WENO methods
  • high-order methods for integral equations
  • Wavelet based methods
  • Efficient solvers and preconditioners for high-order methods
  • Efficient time-stepping techniques
  • Parallel and computational aspects of spectral and high-order methods.

Examples of applications can be found in

  • Electromagnetics
  • Fluid mechanics
  • Structural dynamics
  • Climate modeling
  • ... etc

It is anticipated that ICOSAHOM'07 will bring together a broad group of scientists and engineers with diverse interests in the theory and application of spectral and high order methods for the solution of a multitude of problems.
