A Workshop on Scientific Computing will be held at the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific/ Engineering Computing, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, from December 5-6, 2003, to celebrate the 70^th Birthday of Professor Zhong-ci Shi. 

The theme of the workshop is all aspects of scientific computing, specially on numerical methods for partial differential equations, parallel computing and domain decomposition methods, etc. Recent developments in these areas will be surveyed and future trends will be discussed.   

The conference is organized jointly by the Laboratory of Scientific and Engineering Computing (LSEC), Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific/Engineering Computing (ICMSEC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The workshop will be sponsored by LSEC, ICMSEC and the Special Funds for Major State Basic Research Project “Large Scale Scientific Computation Research”.
