报告题目∶A Convex Approximation Method for Dynamic Workforce Capacity Planning Problem 报告人∶ Dr HUANG Huei Chuen Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Faculty of Engineering National University of Singapore 报告时间∶9月25日(星期二)下午∶15:30-16:30 报告地点∶蓝白楼311, 中国科学院数学与系统科学研究院 报告摘要∶ In this talk, a workforce capacity planning problem is considered, which concerns transferring, hiring, or firing employees among different skill categories of an organization under an environment of uncertain workforce demands and turnover, with the objective of minimizing the expected cost over a finite planning horizon. It will be illustrated that the problem can be formulated as a multistage stochastic program and be solved by a convex approximation method in stages and iteratively. An advantage of the method is that it can handle problems of large size where normally solving the problems by equivalent deterministic linear programs is considered to be computationally infeasible. Numerical experiments indicate that solutions obtained by the method have expected costs near optimal.
